This guidance is for all schools. It outlines the National Healthy Schools Programme, introduces the concept of national Healthy School status and describes the benefits of becoming a 'healthy school'. It describes what schools need to do to gain national Healthy School status. This criterion has been implemented into the Manchester Healthy School 'Going for Gold' Programme. The Manchester Healthy Schools Policy Pack is designed to enable schools to develop all of the policies which are required in the Manchester Healthy Schools Standard. The policy pack includes policies which schools have a statutory or OFSTED requirement to address e.g. PSHE, anti-bullying, as well as other policies which are required for National Healthy School Status and the Bronze, Silver & Gold award. The Manchester Healthy School Partnership is keen to support schools to develop effective and comprehensive practice in this area. Using this policy pack will save schools time and resources; it will also ensure a common and integrated whole school approach to these subject areas. The policy pack has been designed to be relevant to all schools.
