The Manchester Healthy Schools Partnership supports school communities to make sustainable health improvements. In order to achieve Healthy Schools Status a school must ensure that they offer nutritionally balanced food to their students across the school day. Students are not just provided with healthy food choices but educated on the importance of a balanced diet to prevent developing CHD and other diseases later in life. These important messages are shared with the whole school community including parents/carers.
The Manchester Healthy Schools Partnership helps promote initiatives like 'Let's Get Cooking' which supports schools to set up cookery clubs. Cookery clubs are an excellent way for children to gain an interest in healthy foods and learn more about the link between a balanced diet and health. |
