The Success Through Sport Programme

The Health Trainer service is involved in a new project, it’s a collaboration between Community Health Trainers (NHS), City in the Community (MCFC) and Jobcenter + and is called the Success Through Sport programme. The programme will be working with unemployed men aged 18-25 who reside in Ardwick, Hulme, Moss Side and the surrounding areas. The men must have an interest in physical activities and health matters in general and a desire to get motivated towards improving their situation and becoming more employable. The programme will provide these men with opportunities to get involved in free sporting activities such as Football, Badmington, Boxing and Basketball. Professional coaching, free health advice, positive health improvement opportunities and training programmes designed to enhance their employability will also be offered. Participation in the programme will last up to 6 months. The sessions will be held at two venues, one in Ardwick and one in Fallowfield, with participants attending the one that is most convenient for them.

We are looking to assess potential participants as soon as possible so their is a referral form attached that is to be used by GP’s, community projects, health centres, employment agencies or anyone who has contact with potential participants so their details can be sent to the free post address. Their is a flyer attached to advertise the programme. It would be greatly appreciated if you could promote the programme by distributing these to any relevant people or organisations that you can think of and also refer any potential clients who may be interested yourselves.
