ENTRY CRITERIA
GETTING ACTIVE THROUGH EXERCISE (GATE) 65+

The criteria for entry into exercise recommended by the GATE project is as follows:

All Manchester residents, or non-Manchester residents with a Manchester GP, aged 65 or over; with the exception of those who, following a health assessment, would find exercise a detriment to their health; e.g.

  • Uncontrolled resting high blood pressure
  • Uncontrolled angina
  • Uncontrolled tachycardia
  • Unstable or acute heart failure
  • Uncontrolled acute systemic illness
  • Uncontrolled visual or vestibular problems
  • Unable to maintain seated upright position
  • Recent injurious fall without attention
  • Impaired cognition
  • Place self or others at risk
