Advice and Opportunities for Exercise
- Making visits to older people in their homes to advise on appropriate exercise programmes.
- Carrying out assessments to establish a person’s suitability for exercise.
- Making recommendations for appropriate exercise activities with participants, either in the community, or in the home.
- Informing GPs of their patient’s exercise programme so that information can be used for practice audits relating to lifestyle advice.
- Providing assistance to groups in setting up exercise classes for the over-65s.
- Organising classes across the city.
Training
- Providing training to deliver seated exercise to a wide range of people involved with the elderly.
- Delivering exercise ‘taster’ sessions in residential and community settings.
Resources
- Providing home based exercise resources free of charge for strength and balance training
- Offering advice leaflets on a wide range of health and safety issues affecting older people.
