We provide generic and bespoke training in alcohol identification and brief advice free of charge to prioritised staff groups in Manchester (see next available dates below).
Alcohol IBA training aims to provide the skills and knowledge required to perform competently against the relevant National Occupational Standard (AH10 Employ techniques to help individuals to adopt sensible drinking behaviour*). It includes:
- assessment of level of use/risk using simple identification tool (AUDIT-C/AUDIT)
- simple feedback of lower risk advice and how their drinking relates to that
- goal setting and some suggested simple techniques and/or helpful materials to promote success
- options for added support or onward referral, where needed
- skills practice using a working knowledge of the cycle of change model
* All our training and resources incorporate the most up-to-date risk based terminology used by the Department of Health (i.e. lower risk, increasing risk, higher risk).
Please contact Liz Burns regarding future alcohol IBA training workshops on 0161 882 2310 or Elizabeth.burns@manchester.nhs.uk
